Committees

In order to carry out all the projects that our club is involved with throughout the year, each member is asked to join one or more committees.

Club Administration Purpose: The CA Committee is responsible for providing the most effective club meeting possible. Areas of focus should include the club meeting program, risk management, reception, fellowship and inter-club relations, as well as other areas that the committee may deem pertinent. Charge: The CA Committee is responsible for making our weekly club meetings interesting, informative, professional and fun by utilizing the talents of the membership and scheduling interesting and appropriate programs and speakers. It is also the responsible for ensuring that the meeting room is setup prior to each club meeting and each member and guest is welcomed; and that a supply of all items needed to conduct the meeting are available. In addition, members should be provided ample opportunities to attend inter-clubs and social activities. It is recommended that the chair meets with the committee on a quarterly basis to plan the program/speakers, etc. for the upcoming quarter.
Community Service Purpose: To implement projects that promote community involvement.
 Duties: Responsible for: (1) promoting ongoing service projects that are deemed beneficial, and (2) initiating new community service opportunities for the membership, with prior approval of the board of directors.

Finance and Fundraising Purpose: The F&F Committee is responsible for preparing a budget of estimated income and expenses for submission to the board of directors, as well as any recommendations it may have on financial matters of the club. It is also responsible for securing the funds necessary to meet the budget requirements. Charge: Committee in conjunction with the Treasurer is responsible for preparing a proposed annual budget and a final approved budget for the club; assisting the Treasurer with preparing monthly financial reports for the board and club as a whole; ensuring good accounting practices; and ensuring that funds area available to support the itemized expenses by providing fundraisers throughout the year. Human and Spiritual Values Purpose: the H&SV Committee should implement projects that support the spiritual development, provide human companionship and comfort, or offer counseling and guidance. Projects can encourage interfaith and interdenominational religious activity, such as prayer, but not support a specific religious sect. Popular projects include prayer breakfasts, layman of the year awards, transportation to religious services, visits to nursing homes, and support of grief counseling. Charge: The H&SV Committee is responsible for promoting human and spiritual values at club meetings and in the community: providing someone to lead the pledge, invocation, thought for the day, etc. at club meetings; planning a "Pastor Appreciation Day" and a prayer breakfast; providing service opportunities for members such as visiting nursing homes, etc. Notes from May 17, 2017 Pastor Appreciation in October Beth & Rich to continue rotation with weekly prayer and devotional
Membership Purpose: The MG&E Committee should strive to increase membership according to the standards provided in the bylaws. The committee should consider all membership applications and submit its recommendations to the board of directors. The committee should also develop an effective orientation and induction ceremony for new members and promote regular attendance by all members at the meetings. Charge: The MG&E Committee should promote club membership and retention throughout the year and provide ongoing Kiwanis education for all members and provide new member orientation for all inductees. In addition and in conjunction with the club president new member packets should be prepared and given to all inductees along with a Kiwanis pin at the time of induction.
Public Relations Purpose: To provide to the public information about our local club as well as district and international Kiwanis activities. Duties: Responsible for: (1) promoting our club and its activities in the community through the medium of newspapers, radio, television, Social Media (website, Facebook, Twitter, and others) etc., and (2) representing Kiwanis to the leadership of the community at any other appropriate opportunity.
Sponsored Youth Purpose: The SY Committee should devise ways and means to support Kiwanis Kids Clubs in the elementary schools, Builders Clubs in junior high and middle school, Key Clubs in high schools and Circle K Clubs in universities and colleges, and Aktion Clubs for adults with disabilities and should encourage and promote activities of all Aktion Clubs, Kiwanis Kids, Builders Clubs, Key Clubs, and Circle K Clubs sponsored by the club. The committee should include the Kiwanis Club advisers (sponsors) to sponsored Circle K, Key Club, Builders Club, Kiwanis Kids and Aktion Club. Charge: The committee acts as our club's liaison to all sponsored youth clubs that we sponsor. It should promote positive interaction and communication between our club, the sponsored youth club and it faculty adviser, as well as the respective school principal. It ensures that our club lends the proper support, including financial to each SY club. It promotes the attendance of our members at SY events, meetings, etc. and likewise encourages SY participation in our events and meetings.

Young Children Purpose: To implement projects for children, prenatal through age five.
 Duties Responsible for: (1) promoting participation in the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) project at the local Head Start program, and (2) promoting other service projects that enhance the growth of young children.
